 Students and Graduates Achievements
January 2010  Vukani finalists 2010 NORTH WEST SCHOOL OF DESIGN students excel yet again! Three full time Clothing Design and Technology students, (Yolande Maree, Nadine Roodt and Joani Pieterse) and graduate student, (FX Prins) get selected as nationwide African finalists in the SAFDA (South African Fashion Designers Agency) competition. The finals of this competition will be hosted later this year.
January 2010 J&B Met , Anel Botha and Gert-Johan Coetzee Anel Botha (Graduate student), class of 2005 & 2006 get nationwide coverage including, Top Billing magazine program, whereby her designs for theAnel Botha (Graduate student), class of 2005&2006 get nationwide coverage including, Top Billing magazine program, whereby her designs for the J&B Met in Cape Town is selected as “Best Themed Couple”. She wins an array of prizes. Another graduate, student, Gert-Johan Coetzee’s design, worn by Thembi Seete walks away with “Best Dress” at the Met.

February 2010 Yolande – Potch Herald Yolande Maree, current second year Clothing Design and Technology student, receives article in Potchefstroom Herald on successes of this up-and coming student of the NORTH WEST SCHOOL OF DESIGN. 
March 2010 Rustenburg Herald, Mafikeng Mail and, Potchefstroom Herald Open Model Casting in March 2010. The Rustenburg Herald, Mafikeng Mail and Potchefstroom Heraldreports on the open model casting that was held in Klerksdorp in March 2010. Over 220 models attended the casting session, whereby models were selected for the Platinum Fashion Festival.
March 2010 Miss Klerksdorp 2009 says thank you! Miss Klerksdorp 2009 says thank you to all the sponsors that made her reign wonderful in the Klerksdorp Record. NORTH WEST SCHOOL OF DESIGN also receives coverage, as every year, the winning Miss Klerksdorp gets an corset designed especially for her by the first year Clothing Design and Technology students of the NORTH WEST SCHOOL OF DESIGN.
April 2010 Jose de Canha dresses Miss Klerksdorp and Teen Graduate student, Jose de Canha (Designer of the Year 2003) gets approached by the organisers of Miss Klerksdorp and Miss Klerksdorp Teen 2010 to design exquisite evening gowns for all 20 finalists. This is a great honour for any designer, as Miss Klerksdorp and Miss Klerksdorp Teen draw a huge crowd to attend the crowning ceremony.

May 2010 3 Vodacom Durban July semi-finalists The NORTH WEST SCHOOL OF DESIGN, boasts another three semi-finalists for the Vodacom Durban July Young Designer Awards. Yolande Maree and Ofelia Andrade (both second year students) and Stiena Hoffmann (first year student) keep the name of NORTH WEST SCHOOL OF DESIGN flying high. June 2010 Vukani Winner! Yolande Maree (current second year student of NWSD) scoops the title of High Fashion Winner at the South African Fashion Designers Agency / Vukani Awards that was hosted at Mmaponya Mall in Soweto in June 2010. Vukani has often seen students of theNORTH WEST SCHOOL OF DESIGN getting selected as winners in either, Innovative, High Fashion or Overall Winners in their competition for young designers.

June 2010 Final 6! 6 finalist for this above mentioned competition. These designers will have their garments showcased at the Cape Town Fashion Week in November 2010 and compete for the title of Nokia / Foschini Young Designer Award in August 2010 also in Cape Town.
June 2010 YOU spectacular Awards! The You and Huisgenoot, annual Awards takes place in Johannesburg, and two graduate students of the NORTH WEST SCHOOL OF DESIGN dress South Africa’s A-list celebrities. Gert-Johan Coetzee dresses ex-Miss SA Cindy Nell-Roberts and Anel Botha dresses, Gugu Zuma, (Isidingo actress) and daughter of Jacob Zuma. Both these two designs feature prominently in the You and Huisgenoot magazines.

SMALL BUSINESS OF THE YEAR 2010At the annual banquet hosted by the Wesvaal Chamber of Business, whereby business people get recognition for hard work and outstanding excellence, the North West School of Design, scoops the title of “Small Business of the Year 2010.” This is the third time, that the North West School of Design receives accolade from the Wesvaal of Chamber of Business. 2003 – Marlene Oosthuizen was awarded Businesswoman of the Year and 2004 – Marlene was awarded with a Special Award, for the recognition and development of the X!Act Design Patternmaker

Miss Crossing announced!In collaboration between the Crossing Shopping Centre and the North West School of Design – Mafikeng Campus, Pertunia Mosweusweu was announced as “Miss Crossing 2010”. This was the first time that the Crossing Shopping Centre had a queen. Pertunia’s list of duties will include duties allocated by the Crossing and promotional work for North West School of Design.

The Klerksdorp Recreation Centre came to standstill on 6 November 2010, when the graduating class of 2009&2010, presented their Graduation Fashion Show.
